A One Man Show...Every Month

The launch of Art Rogue has been both a blessing and challenge. The challenge part is a good thing because I’m up for it. What is different about my studio-gallery than others in the neighborhood is I only show my work. Other galleries can pool from several artists to create an exhibition. I have to create new work every month to keep things fresh.

I always envisioned myself making a career out of art. Just recently I revisited an article in Shutterbug Magazine that profiled me when I attended the University of Montana.

“When I graduate I’d like to open a graphics studio in Missoula. I’m interested in applying fine art to graphic illustration.”

With the exception of Matt’s self-portrait, the images here feature only slight digital manipulation. Rather, their effects are mostly the result of cross-processing; that is, slide film processed in C-41 chemistry. “My photographic style right now is pretty much experimental.”

I am on track with a few diffenences. One, I am not in Missoula anymore. Two, I haven’t been doing much illustration. But hey, I have my studio and I’m doing work that I love and others enjoy. I will hopefully be doing more illustration as well as moving toward commercial photography.

I have had the fortune of contributing to a budding art scene in Nashville. I am at the right place at the right time. I feel lucky, but I also feel that this is my destiny. This is what I was meant to do at this indexed chapter of my life.
