Holiday and Cancer Update

My Holidays have been a mixed bag of good and bad. This time of year is always packed full of stress and joy, but I had to throw some other complications into the holiday salad.

For those of you who know me also know that I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a few years back. I had my thyroid and about 60 lymph nodes removed from my neck. Now I have to monitor my progress through blood tests and an annual whole body scan. I had the brilliant idea of putting off the tests and scans till mid December. Not so brilliant.

Unfortunately I was not as far along as I or my doctor hoped. They found some more thyroid tissue leftover that the surgery and previous radiation treatments failed to remove and destroy. So this required another radiation treatment. This wasn’t alarming, just part of a long term strategy and more of a disappointment.

Like I said, it was a mixed bag. On the positive side I was able to hang out with my family in Indianapolis for a few weeks since I do all my tests and treatments there. Also my brother just bought a new house so I helped him move in.

Now I am back in Nashville and ready to work again. Those medical bills will start piling up sooner than later. On that note, feel free to buy some artwork.
